Private Robert T. Bassett

 

The background of this man is not known at present.

Robert T. Bassett enlisted in the North Irish Horse at Antrim on 3 January 1917 (No.2342). He was described as being 5' 9¼" tall, and gave his age as 25¼, his birthplace as Shankill, Belfast, and his occupation as a carter.

Bassett was reported to have deserted from the regiment's reserve base at Antrim on 30 January 1917. It is not known if he was subsequently apprehended or returned to duty.
